📣New Live-In Service for just $2 an hour to have a WHOLE person stay at YOUR home with YOUR pets and do nothing else in their lives while they’re there! Just $50 for 24 hours, and making sure you step in for all the fun parts of their lives. Pretty good, right?!

APRIL FOOLS FRIENDS! If you know anything about us and our business, you’ll know we do not offer this service, but I did this type of pet sitting for YEARS. Guess what I got out of all that time spent at one person’s home at one time with their pet for $50/day (usually not even that)?? Debt. I go debt and was killing myself for less than minimum wage.

We have had many people come to our events and tell me to my face we’re too expensive. If you are not paying your pet sitter at LEAST minimum wage per hour, a few things will happen:

1. They will not last as a pet sitter for long. Whether it’s because they’re in school and moving on from the low paying pet sitting work, or they are not making enough as a solo business and have to move to a different career.
2. They will be doing other things to try to make money, and not giving your pet 100% focus.
3. They will not have the money to train themselves on pet care in case something happens to your pet when you’re gone.
4. They will grow resentful and it will be reflected in care.
5. They won’t have the money to invest in insurance or anything that helps when there’s an emergency.

I know pet sitting has been a hobby job to a lot of people (including myself), but until we start paying people their worth or training our dogs to be okay by themselves for a few hours at a time, we will continue to see horror stories of bad pet sitters.

I’ve been pet sitting since middle school by myself, but in 2020, my soul cat got sick and passed within 4 days at just 5 years old. 💔

It got me thinking…what if I had been on vacation when this happened? No one should worry about a pet sitter noticing changes in your pet that happen quickly, no one should have to worry about whether or not their pet sitter will take action immediately and let you know in a timely manner, and potentially to be there when shit hits the fan while you’re away.

At the beginning of this year, I joined a new venture for myself and Hand and Hound. The whole of 2026, I am getting coached and working on myself and the business with @dogcolaunch !

I’ve been so proud of the success of this business, from something I fell into without much thought, to a drain on my body and mental health, to something I didn’t feel proud of and hid from my personal life, to now a Best of the Valley business that I understand can exist outside of me and also next to me and my other goals in life.

But after years of grind, this investment with DogCo comes at a time where it’s make it or break it with this business. I’m tired. Small business is fucking hard. I don’t make a ton of money and the world is getting harder to afford. Big Corporations pay less taxes than I do.
